DONALD MCGREGOR

Post here if you are looking for ancestors but either don't know where in the parish they were from OR if I have not included the locality yet.
Otherwise post your question and information in the right geographical area of the parish.

I AM LOOKING FOR ANY INFORMATION ABOUT MY GREAT,GREAT GRANDFATHER....DONALD MCGREGOR FROM ARDCHATTAN. THE ONLY THING I CAN FIND ABOUT HIM WAS THAT HE MARRIED CATHERINE COWAN FROM KILMORE ON 31/12/1835.
I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHEN HE WAS BORN, & WHO HIS PARENTS WERE . I BELIEVE HE MOVED TO AYRSHIRE ,PROBABLY AFTER HIS MARRIAGE.
ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE GRATEFULLY RECEIVED.

Hi Sheila
And welcome to Ardchattan

Where have you looked so far?
This will help us to help you.
Have you searched in www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk - or the IGI in familysearch.org?
The first one will also give you the census records from 1841 to follow their tracks.

The Marriage record only really gives us that he was habitually living here at the time of his marriage, it is possible that he was born elsewhere.
It would be really good to get any of the census records onwards, to see if there are any more clues as to where he was actually born.

Further to my search, I can trace Donald [from Ardchattan] & his wife Catherine Cowan [fromKilmore] to Fenwick in Ayrshire, probably after their marriage on 31/12/1835 in Ardchattan.
Donald [I believe] was the son of John & Katherine [nee Fletcher]
Catherine the daughter of Fergus Cowan & Mary McInnes.
Other than that, I am stumped,so if anyone can add to this I would be most gratefull.
